Polzer Automation Solutions

About me

About Kurt Polzer - My professional career

My name is Kurt Polzer and I studied mathematics at what is now the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
During my long career at Siemens, I gained extensive experience in software development, product management, product ownership, pre-sales support, business development and marketing.

My focus was on process instrumentation, process control systems, SCADA systems and industrial communication on a global level. I worked for several years in pre-sales support for the Simatic PCS 7 process control system.
I was a trainer for the ten-day "PCS 7 on Tour" training course several times, mainly in Asia.
Under my leadership as Product Owner, the SIMATIC PDM (Process Device Manager) tool, which is still in use today, was developed. This currently also supports FDI packages.

In my last position, as Product Owner, I was responsible for the development of an innovative software product for recording widely distributed measuring points. In close cooperation with an international team of developers, an internet-based data transfer and a modern, web-based user interface were successfully implemented.

I have also led numerous technical workshops and developed demo systems for trade fairs and marketing activities.

Polzer Automation Solutions

After my (un)retirement, I founded Polzer Automation Solutions. The basis for my offer is my many years of experience in automation, supplemented by sound knowledge of modern technologies and processes as well as continuous further training - most recently in the field of cybersecurity.

For the FieldComm Group I developed a forward-looking Demonstration systemkey technologies such as FDIwhich NAMUR Open Architecture (NOA) with PA-DIM and Ethernet-APL linked in a practical and clear way.

For a company in Belgium I designed and realized with PIA-LINK the technical basis for a new business segment. Since then, the associated demo system has been regularly Trade fairs and successfully presented in sales presentations used.

Since January 2025 I am PECB Certified NIS 2 Directive Lead Implementer.
My aim is to apply this knowledge in a practical way in my training. Unleash Digital Transformation and integrate them into projects.

SOCIAL COMMITMENT

Technology with a purpose - In addition to my professional activities, I am actively involved in the Education and development sector.

One project that is particularly important to me is supporting the Jamyang Ling school in Raru. This is a small village in Zanskar, Ladakh (northern India) at an altitude of 3,900 meters.

I myself took part in the laying of the foundation stone in 1994. Since then, I have supported this project personally and financially. In 2002, together with my wife Regine, I installed a solar system with battery storage and 230V supply for the entire building - the system can be seen in one of the photos.

More than 120 pupils are currently studying at the school. I am particularly pleased that the first graduates are now returning as teachers. Or they find qualified professions.

Further information can be found at: www.shambhala.de.
